The key outcome of this event is to create interest in science in the students and build skills involved in scientific inquiry. The Science Fair is an annual event the International Course looks forward to at the end of each academic year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1615 alignleft\" alt=\"science_fair1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair1.png\" width=\"608\" height=\"594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair1.png 844w, https:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair1-300x293.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Science Fair involves the following:<\/p>\n<p>Students do research and experiments or projects that are aligned with the year\u2019s<br \/>\nScience Fair theme.<br \/>\n2. Students present their experiments or projects on power point, and display the six<br \/>\nskills in scientific inquiry, Aim, Hypothesis, Materials, Method, Results, and Conclusion,<br \/>\non a display board along with a model to show the experiment or project.<br \/>\n3. Judges are invited on the day of the science fair to assess students\u2019 knowledge of the<br \/>\nexperiment or project, assess their power point and display board presentations, and<br \/>\nrate their overall performance in terms of knowledge of content, scientific skills, problem<br \/>\nsolving, organization and cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the run up to the Science Fair students are taught how to work as a team in researching, experimenting, preparing and presenting, as well as how to make power point presentations and videos. The students learn that preparation, organization, team work, problem solving, helping others, and completing tasks on time play key roles in successful science fair presentations<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1620\" alt=\"science_fair2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair2.png\" width=\"648\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair2.png 900w, https:\/\/www.gis.ac.jp\/secondary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/science_fair2-300x228.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the 2014 Science Fair was \u201cScience in Action\u201d.\u00a0 The challenge for the students is to create a project or do an experiment to apply or put into action what they have learned in the classroom.\u00a0 All students from J1 to H2 participated in the Science Fair. They were divided into groups. Some of the projects were robot arm, NEX rocket, solar air heater\u00a0 and some experimented on corrosion, bacterial growth and magnets. The students spent several weeks making their projects, videos\u00a0 and display boards, and before the day of the fair everybody was busy practicing their speeches and powerpoint presentations. Congratulations to all the students who participated and all the teachers who helped in making the event a success.
